As your last three quarters jangle on the control panel of an arcade game, you carefully maneuver your ‘Paperboy’ character through the crazy neighborhood. Echoing throughout the game room, the sounds of New Wave and Synth Pop fill the popcorn-scented air. Nostalgic pads, retro synths, vintage basslines, and throwback percussion are met with haunting, impassioned vocals. The poignant and yearning tone of the lyrics fit surprisingly well juxtaposed over the bright, upbeat instrumentation.
